ABOUT ArtFCity
ArtFCity is an independent journal about art, music and photography. We explain the work, the people and the context behind the pictures and sounds around us.
Who we are
We are a small editorial team of writers, photographers, musicians and illustrators who grew tired of coverage that treats culture as content. ArtFCity began as a shared notebook of exhibitions, records and pictures worth arguing about. Today it reaches readers who want a slower, more useful account of creative life, and the rule has not changed: if we have not seen it, heard it or made it, we do not pretend to know it.
Our mission
Clarity without condescension. Every week we publish free stories on Art & Culture, Music News, Photography Tips, Digital Art and the meeting point of Music & Photography. We aim to answer one question properly rather than ten questions vaguely, and we never pad a piece to reach a word count.
Editorial standards
No paid placements, no hidden sponsorships and no affiliate links dressed up as advice. We disclose access, loans and travel in the story that uses them, and we correct mistakes in public rather than quietly editing them away. If a claim cannot be checked, we say so on the page.
How we report
Each story starts with a question and a list of sources. We visit venues, studios and exhibitions where we can, interview the people doing the work, and read the primary material before we write. Numbers, dates and prices are checked against official sources, then checked again before publication.
How we fund the site
Readers keep us independent. We do not sell placements, and no organisation can pay to change a conclusion. Any future advertising will be clearly labelled and kept away from editorial decisions. When we recommend a cheap option over an expensive one, it is because it served the work better.
The team
Our contributors cover exhibitions and craft, live music and venues, photographic practice, digital workflow and the crossover between sound and image. Freelancers are paid for accepted work and credited on every story. A rotating editor reviews each piece before it ships.
Talk to us
Corrections, tips or a story idea? Email contact us or use our contact page. We reply within one business day, and reader notes genuinely shape what we cover next.
How we choose what to cover
We watch what readers ask about, what is changing in studios and venues, and which stories are being repeated without evidence. A small exhibition that changes how a town sees itself can matter more than a loud opening with a large budget.
What we do not do
We do not take money for a mention, we do not let a subject approve a story before you read it, and we do not run giveaways that harvest your data. If we cannot report something properly, we say so and point you to a source we trust.
A note on AI
Every story is written and checked by a named human. We use software for spelling, image resizing and research assistance, never to invent a quote or a first-hand observation. If that policy changes, we will say so clearly at the top of the page.
How to read our stories
Each piece ends with key facts and links to related coverage. Use those to compare quickly. When two arguments are close, read the full story, because the context usually decides which one applies to you.
